The Career Navigation Roadmap widget is a dynamic, interactive tool that lets you explore the five key phases of career navigation. Use the widget to move through each phase, discover resources, and revisit steps at any time—all within one clear and connected journey.
ExamineGrade 9 | 0-11 Credits
Foundational in the development of meaningful decision-making, learners understand and examine their capacities, capabilities, and interests aligned to potential careers.
Identity Development
Students can articulate their interests and talents and how they connect to possible future careers.
Postsecondary Planning
Students develop their Future Ready plan, including exploration of careers and an early selection/s of a career pathway options within a career cluster of interest.
Academic Advising
Students review their high school academic plan for alignment to postsecondary interests and complete at least one introductory career readiness course to build interest and practical job skills.
College and career preparation & Acceleration
Students explore different postsecondary pathways and career clusters to refine their career interests.
Workplace Readiness
Students demonstrate basic competency of occupational and 21st-century skills.
Financial Literacy
Students understand wealth, income and its alignment with lifestyle and budgets.
ExploreGrades 9/10 | 6-22 Credits
Building on the foundation, learners investigate the range of high-value postsecondary possibilities and "try on" fields of interest.
Identity Development
Students are engaged in their community through volunteerism, work, and/or leadership roles.
Postsecondary Planning
Students monitor progress toward postsecondary goals, have explored 3–5 locations/options for postsecondary, revisit career pathway options and modify the Future Ready plan as required.
Academic Advising
Students determine academic eligibility and plan for early college credit /advanced coursework experiences, i.e. dual enrollment.
College and career preparation & Acceleration
Students interact with career fields of interest to develop a deeper understanding of potential careers.
Workplace Readiness
Students develop and practice networking skills, including recognizing, building, and leveraging their networks.
Financial Literacy
Students know how to use Labor Market Information to compare and contrast different career paths of interest.
EngageGrades 10/11 | 12-33 Credits
With an exploration of fields of interest, learners dive deeper into potential careers and aligned early college experiences and develop essential skills.
Identity Development
Students engage in reflection and modify their postsecondary interests and priorities based on their career navigation experience and learnings.
Postsecondary Planning
Students draft a postsecondary career plan, inclusive of the requirements and deadline planning for goals, and modify the Future Ready plan as required to reflect the evolution of their fit and match needs.
Academic Advising
Students engage in early college credit/advanced coursework aligned to a students’ plan and remediate any eligibility gaps related to their postsecondary plan.
College and career preparation & Acceleration
Students engage with industries and careers of interest through in-depth discovery opportunities.
Workplace Readiness
Students use academic knowledge and skills in an occupational context and demonstrate the application of these skills by using a variety of communication techniques.
Financial Literacy
Students demonstrate knowledge of the link between different credentials and degree programs, employment, and earning potential. Students and families engaged in critical conversations to develop a financial plan for postsecondary options.
ExperienceGrades 11/12 | 27+ Credits
Culminating in the transition to postsecondary, learners activate the knowledge, resources, and experiences to make empowered choices and successfully launch into and thrive in their next step and beyond.
Identity Development
Students demonstrate the ability to confidently navigate decision-making processes and effectively communicate their personal boundaries and expectations when exploring postsecondary options.
Postsecondary Planning
Students complete the development of a career plan that would permit eventual entry into a career option of their choosing based on their coursework, Future Ready experiences.
Academic Advising
Students develop and collect pertinent documents for postsecondary transition needs.
College and career preparation & Acceleration
Students engage in a culminating experience, like an internship, and attain a credential of value aligned with their intended career pathway.
Workplace Readiness
Students demonstrate the integration and application of academic and occupational skills in their school learning, work, and personal lives.
